What's In The Messaging Pipeline

Messaging systems are used by more users, create a greater volume of data, and use more CPU and network bandwidth than any other group of enterprise applications. E-mail is the oldest and most widely used medium for computer messaging, but today messaging goes far beyond e-mail to include instant messaging, collaborative applications, wireless PIM-based messaging, video conferencing, and voice messaging. The range of business applications supported by messaging systems is broad and includes everything from one-to-one communications to tech support, distance learning, and CRM. Virtually anything from a one-word instant message between colleagues to a shareholder meeting can be handled by one sort of messaging technology or another, and as companies increase remote and international operations, messaging applications and their uses are becoming even more evident and numerous.

We keep you up to date on messaging security. Because that same volume of messaging usage and range of applications opens enterprise networks to access from the outside, and sooner or later that leads to trouble. Messages, especially e-mail, are the most common vehicle for spreading viruses and worms. SPAM has become a terrible burden on users and IT professionals as well as on enterprise networks. And hackers prey on messaging systems vulnerabilities as they maneuver their way into the enterprise data infrastructure.

Messaging Pipeline aims to deliver the goods, every day, week in week out:

Most of our information will come to you from home-grown TechWeb and CMP Media sources, but we're not too proud to show you what vendors and users have to say, or even sometimes what our competitors have to say when we think it's important that you know. This is after all the only place on the Web, or anywhere, that's completely dedicated to messaging technology and products, and only the best will do.

Messaging Pipeline is brought to you by , the same company that brings you , , , , , , , , and many other publications.
