Jabber, Inc. Ships IM Appliance

JabberNow is aimed squarely at the SMB market and for small workgroups within the enterprise.

Jabber, Inc. today announced availability of JabberNow, a new plug and play appliance that delivers compliant, secure, and extensible enterprise instant messaging (IM) in am appliance aimed squarely at small-to-medium businesses and remote offices of large enterprises.

The product is designed to enable small workgroups that internally and externally collaborate on time-sensitive and mission-critical information to have easy-to-install secure instant messaging. The company expects to have its initial success with JabberNow in the financial services, manufacturing, legal, consulting, and government information sectors.

Editor's Note: There is a JabberNow box sitting on my desk. But for the lack of a power supply, I'd be telling you a bit about how easy (or hard) it is to install, and how it works. Oh well, more on that when the next FedEx truck appears over the horizon.
Based on the flagship Jabber Extensible Communications Platform (Jabber XCP), JabberNow complies with industry interoperability standards and federates with the vast majority of IM and presence networks used by financial institutions, manufacturers, governments, and consumers.

In its standard configuration, JabberNow is interoperable with any other XMPP-based instant messaging server, works seamlessly with any XMPP client, including mobile clients and the Macromedia Flash-based Jabber client that ships with JabberNow. Available add-ons, such as the previously announced AIM Gateway from Jabber, Inc., a SIP/SIMPLE gateway, SMS gateway, SDKs, message archiving, and LDAP integration enable JabberNow customers to enable both sophisticated and simple real-time message systems inside and outside of their internal networks.

“JabberNow condenses carrier-grade infrastructure into a box that can be digested by the kind of workgroups that often lack enterprise-grade IT resources,” said Michael Helfrich, senior vice president of product strategy and marketing for Jabber, Inc. “JabberNow is a compliant and interoperable infrastructure that is designed to support extended presence services such as XML-based workflow apps, context-aware data routing, mobile messaging and more.”

Sold directly through the jabber.com Web site as well as through channel partners, JabberNow will comfortably support up to 1,000 users with prices starting at $2,495 for 25 users. For more information about Jabber, Inc. and JabberNow, send an email to or call 303-308-3294.
