March 10, 2006 Clearwell And HP Provide Energy Company With E-mail Archiving And Discovery By Compliance Pipeline Staff Courtesy of E-mail discovery vendor Clearwell Systems Inc. said it has partnered with Hewlett-Packard to integrate its Clearwell Email Intelligence Platform with the HP Reference Information Storage System (RISS) for a Fortune 200 energy company. Constellation Energy, Baltimore will deploy the Clearwell Email Intelligence Platform on top of the HP RISS archiving system to streamline and automate e-mail archiving, e-mail discovery, and analysis across its entire Microsoft Exchange environment. Clearwell's Email Intelligence Platform discovers and extracts actionable intelligence from corporate e-mail systems. Unlike keyword search tools that index and provide access to historical e-mail files, Clearwell said its software analyzes other unique properties of e-mail, such as recipients, replies, forwards, CC's, and subject header, and combines it with organizational data to derive e-mail-specific communication patterns. Clearwell then applies linguistic and statistical analysis algorithms to extract intelligence from e-mail messages and attachments across all Exchange servers, PST files and storage archives. Last year, due to escalating e-mail discovery requests, Constellation Energy spent more than 45,000 hours sifting through more than 700 mailboxes, costing the company millions of dollars. "Clearwell and HP provide me with the ability to reinvest in my department and assign my current staff to more strategic initiatives, which in turn adds even greater value to our business," said John Petruzzi, Constellation Energy's director of enterprise security. "The combined solution helps Constellation Energy to realize significant cost savings and minimize business risk by streamlining and automating traditional manual, time-consuming processes for regulatory compliance, legal discovery and HR, which we estimate will result in millions of dollars in cost savings related to future data requests and provide a significant return on our investment."
